San Francisco Civil War Round Table Meeting
                                Thursday 21st May 2015
at the United Irish Cultural Center
                             2700 45th Avenue, San Francisco
==========================================================

The meeting commenced at 6:45pm with the Pledge of Allegiance and the
introduction of guests.

The president reminded members that at next month's meeting (June) the
election of the Board for the 2015 - 2016 season would take place. His call for
volunteers was met with the customary enthusiastic silence. He also repeated the
fact that the newsletter would go out by email starting in September and the
membership dues will be raised.

Mary Kunitake conducted a lively book raffle, ably assisted by Shari
Videlock.
All present gave generously and the proceeds provided a very
welcome addition to the organisation's finances.

     Our guest speaker,
David Wiegers, presented "A Life Worth
Remembering; The Monumental Life and Legacy of Abraham Lincoln."
Unfortunately his laptop refused to talk to the projector, a tragedy for a
presentation that relied heavily on the many fine photographs that Dave has
taken over the years. While
Steve Harrington battled with the stubborn
electronics,
Art Buckley took the floor and led a Round Table discussion in
which each member contributed some fact about Lincoln.
In the end Dave soldiered on, without visuals, and such were his
presentation skills that all present thoroughly enjoyed his excellent exegesis on
Lincoln statues and other representations throughout the country.

At the close of the evening, Program Chair
Bob Hubbs announced that the
June speaker will be Marty Cain with the topic "Baseball in the Civil War."
